Don’t Make the Same Mistake Hundreds of Businesses Make Each Day
I never hesitate to admit that our services are never the cheapest. In fact, if the services offered by Dale and Sawhook, Inc. were the cheapest I would immediately increase our prices. Why? Because being the cheapest is never an
indication of being the best. I’m going to let you in on a few secrets that a small handful of the people who hire writers know about. By doing this, I am not only going to enable you to make a wise selection when hiring a writer, but I am going to save you money, time and frustration.
Why Cheapest Isn’t Best
If you just want some content to fill your pages and you don’t care how that content looks or how well it reads, go ahead and pick the cheapest writer you can find. However, if you are looking for quality content that reads well and hasn’t been stolen from another writer, you’re going to run into problems when choosing a writer based on price alone.
If you’re wondering how I know that the cheapest writers don’t offer the best quality, it’s because our team has been hired to fix messes left behind by some of the low-ball bidders on more than one occasion. We’ve seen it all. Content that was nothing more than someone else’s material copied and pasted from an existing website, content containing grammar errors a third-grader wouldn’t make and content written as though someone who wasn’t fluent in the English was trying to learn the language as they wrote it.
Needless to say, by the time our team is done fixing the problems caused by the sub-par work the client commissioned, that client ends up paying more than they had ever intended to. They could have saved a lot of time, money and frustration had they foregone the cheap, inexperienced writer and had chosen a writer offering professional services with high standards of quality.
If you think we’re telling you this just so you’ll hire us to provide you with the writing services you need, you’re partially right. Sure, we’d love the opportunity to serve your needs. However, if you don’t want to choose us for your writing project, we understand. We obviously can’t be everyone’s provider of choice. We’ll also admit we’re not the only competent writers in the marketplace. In fact, there are a number of highly-qualified and accomplished writers providing services on the Web. I’ve read some of their work and I would recommend them to my own clients, and that’s saying a lot. However, they never have the lowest
prices and they never will.
By all means, if you feel the need to do so, select another writing team to serve your needs. My motivation in providing this material to you is not to get every single writing project in the marketplace. My motivation in providing this information is to help businesses and individuals make the best decision possible when hiring a writer. After all, the Internet is where many of us generate a good portion of our clients. If writers on the web start getting a bad rap, it’s going to hurt all of us.
There are many accomplished writers providing services on the Internet. Just don’t select a writer willing to do it for the lowest price. Think about it – if their writing is superior in quality, why would they be wiling to undersell themselves?
What Five Dollars Will Get You
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people looking for quality writing at a rate of five or ten dollars a page, and I don’t even want to admit the number of “writers” who try to pull it off. Wondering what you’ll get for five or ten dollars an
article? I’ll be happy to tell you.
For five dollars an article, you’ll probably get one of the following:
- An article containing material that has been copied from another source. Some buyers think they can tell if an article has been copied just by running it through a plagiarism detection program. That works great if the material was copied from an online source. However, if the article was copied from an offline source such as a newspaper or magazine, the buyer may be using someone else’s copyrighted material without even realizing it.
-
An article created by an “article bot” being passed off as an original article. While I do believe there are some jobs that can be performed by robots or computer programs in place of humans, writing is not one of them and this is all too clear in the articles created by article bots.
-
An article that has been written by a foreign service provider who doesn’t have a full understanding of the English language.
-
An article that has been poorly written, poorly thrown together, not edited and not fit for any professional purpose.
Inexperienced Writers
There are some occasions where legitimate writers will charge less than usual for quality services. This is usually in the case of inexperienced writers trying to get their foot in the door. Since these writers do not have any references and they need to build a reputation for themselves, they are usually willing to provide work at a lower rate.
That being said, there is another side to this coin. If a writer doesn’t have any references or work samples to show you, you have no idea what their writing is like or how they treat their clients. If you do opt to work with a new writer (and I’m not saying you shouldn’t), you should ask to see samples of their work, ask for references, make them sign a contract and do not pay them until your work has been completed. I have seen too many clients give a fly-by-night writer a deposit and then never hear from that writer again.
With that being said, don’t expect an established and highly-rated writer to work for you without a deposit. Unless you have a long-running relationship with a writer or a writing firm, you’re going to be required to pay a deposit for any projects you hire them for. This is not because the writer or the firm doesn’t trust you, but because this is a business and as with any service-oriented business, you need to pay a deposit to get the ball rolling.
Our Disclaimer
Can we guarantee you that you’ll get top-notch professional services if you pick the most expensive writer on the market? Absolutely not. I can’t guarantee anything unless it’s my team providing the services in question. However, I can tell you that professionals who charge more for their services usually do so for a reason.
In Closing
A very wise person by the name of Harry Dent once said, “ask yourself this: why are people waiting in line for Mercedes when Mazdas and Fords are always on sale?” The answer is simple – cheap, mass-produced products are never the best.
